Bug Jam 28

We travelled up to Santa Pod for our annual pilgrimage to Bug Jam on the Thursday afternoon this year and despite the weathermen predicting storms all weekend we got off lightly with one thunderstorm over night on the Thursday and a spectacular lightning show just clipping the pod on the Friday evening, this was a result as Santa Pod is notorious for turning in to a quagmire when it rains. The rest of the weekend though was hot with temperatures souring to 30 degrees!

As usual Bug Jam was massive with plenty to see and do, the usual VWDRC action, monster trucks, drift displays, Battle of Briton flypast, Bug Jam's got talent, comedy tent,  massive trade area and much more:

Entertainment wise the main stage had live acts such as The Ordinary Boys, Mused, Hot Red Chillie Peppers, and the very funny Cuban Brothers whose rendition of Ace of Spades by Motorhead was truly hilarious! Meanwhile in the dance tent the Raindance crew, Isotonic and Shades of Rhythm had the place raving like it was the 90's allover again ( but why DJ Billy Bunter dropped Oasis and Nirvana at the end I will never understand and for me and many others killed the night!). Not forgetting Judge Jules who played in the dance tent on Saturday night and had everybody jumping.

Unfortunately due to a heavy night the night before I didn't get any pictures of the Rust and Rat display  but have a look at the pictures of the main Show n Shine below.

Bundle O'Dubz

I'll state this up front, I'm afraid this report is going to be a bit biased. The reason is that Bundle O'Dubz was organised by my friends Kieron, Billy and Myself. 

Kieron and I have been holding a meet in Essex known as Essex VW Night on the first Thursday of each month for a couple of years now, then one day Billy suggested it might be an idea to host a summer BBQ and that he knew a nice little venue where we could get all the regulars together to chill in a field with some beer and food and have a bit of fun.

 We decided that we would charge a small amount for entry and that any profits we made would go to the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity as this particular charity is close to my heart.

The venue chosen was Blake House Craft Centre near Braintree in Essex, who also supplied the BBQ and all the food and drink.

Trophies were sponsored for the Show n Shine by Spikes Vintage Restorations, Final Lap, and Mr Ron's Engine Shop Essex VW Night.

Traders that supported the show were Jezzi & Co, White Isle, Final lap, Spikes Vintage Restorations and Marcus Coy who provided the autojumble.

Tiny Music Tent provided a sound system with the Old Skool tunes supplied by DJ.H on the decks.

All of a sudden we had ourselves not just a BBQ but a VW show!

 Best of all we raised over £300 for Helen Rollason.

Plans are already being made for the second Bundle O' Dubz so keep an eye open for it and put it in your 2015 show diary.
