Elemental VW Show #8 Spots!

Elemental VW Show #8 has been announced for next year on the weekend of 5th - 6th of April, the event has been moved from it's long standing location of the Mountfitchet Mathematics and Computing College as due to it's popularity the 2012 show had to have the day parking in another field off site. The organiser of the show Technohippy wasn't happy with this as he felt that it's better to have everything on site.

The new bigger location is the Crouch Valley Showground, Just off A127 on the A1245 Essex, the 14 acre site will have plenty of room for all the usual Elemental goodness such as show n shine, club displays, kids entertainments with Raggedy Jack the Story Teller, Cosmo 4 Kids and new for 2013 a dedicated kids festival area, as well as live bands such as Hobo Jones & the Junkyard Dogs, Deferred Success, Abdoujaparov, Gaz Brookfield and The Fundamentals.

This years theme is Spots, that means wear Spots and you get in for a fiver! cant be bad, I'll see you there with spots on ;)

As always the show is non profit making with all proceeds going to Essex Air Ambulance.

OLDER N' FASTER // THE CALIFORNIA LOOK by Stephen Brooks FILMS

This is the story of the California Look. Started back in the 60's no other style was as influential or important to the Volkswagen scene. They just get Older n' Faster ....

Grill n Chill

Our last show this season was Grill n Chill, it was held at the Hop Farm in Kent on the weekend of the 21st - 23rd of September.
This is a great local show with lots to keep you and the kids busy with free entry into the Hop Farms attractions such as outdoor play area and animals.
The Cool Flo boys were onsite with a BMX  show n shine with some amazing old skool rides from the 80's with owners spending as much on their bikes as some spend on their cars including one guy allegedly spending a massive eight thousand pounds restoring his!!
On the Saturday we had some of the best sunshine we have had this year, unfortunately due to family commitments we only stayed for the Saturday so didn't get any pictures of the show n shine but got a few around the campsite and in the daily drivers show.
Grill n Chill is a well... Chilled out show and a good one to finish off the season.

UK Busjam

We had the choice of two bus related shows on the weekend of 8th / 9th of September the massive Busfest (the renamed Vanfest) with a four hour drive to the Malvern Hills, or the first UK Busjam practically on our doorstep only an hour and a half away at Stonham Barns in Suffolk.
We chose Busjam and are we glad we did, this fledgling show has an awful lot of promise with a chilled out vibe and a feeling of the early days of VW shows and the sun shone all weekend.
The D.J played some great old skool dance anthems on the Saturday night and on the Sunday afternoon the charity Drag Race (consisting of men dressed as women running up and down the show field) was hilarious!
There was a good turnout of cars on the Saturday's daily driver show and shine as well as on the Sunday for the concours d'elegance. An added bonus for us was that my wife's van Roxy won best T25!
Keep an eye out for this show next year as I have a feeling it's going to get bigger and bigger.

VW Action 31st Aug - Sunday 2nd Sept 2012

Only a week after returning from Germany and we were off again, this time to VW Action at Santa Pod Raceway! We headed up to Poddington on the Friday after work under grey skys and arrived at about 9:30pm. As we set up camp, although warm, it started to spit with rain, was it going to be another wet VW event at the Pod?
No it wasn't, on the Saturday morning the clouds soon cleared and the sun came out for the whole day, insuring that the EDV (every day) Concours and the track action remained undisturbed.
Throughout the weekend were Poi Circus workshops, pin striping seminars from Simon ‘Nefarious’ Pollock and live Graffiti art by  The Funk Doctors.
Sunday was cloudy with a very few sunny breaks but no rain so all was good for the main Concours D’Elegance and Custom Concours displays. With a massive turn out of air and water cooled VW's there was something for everyone.
Entertainment wise. Vision Tech Beats smashed the main stage Friday night and on the Saturday saw the Happy Days themed Rock n Roll night and the Rockabilly band the Q Tips in the Marquee, the 925's playing in the Fuellers bar and Kludo White's excellent Campervan Radio Band playing the marquee on the Sunday afternoon.
We had a great time at VW Action as usual, it never disappoints.
